West Duval Baseball offers a fun and competitive baseball experience for boys and girls ages 5 through 16. Our baseball programs focus on the development of baseball skills, sportsmanship, and a love for the game, all in a fun, family-oriented community. The WDYA is affiliated with Babe Ruth League Baseball. Our association is funded entirely by registration fees, concession profits, and sponsor donations, and is operated by dozens of member volunteers.
Our Softball program is designed to allow girl athletes to compete together as a team. We are dedicated to teaching girls the sport of softball as well as teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship and self-respect. All levels are in accordance with the Cal Ripken & Babe Ruth rules. Age divisions are similar to those listed for baseball.
The pitching machine league (commonly referred to as Rookie) is designed for 7 and 8 year olds. By controlling pitches with a pitching machine, there is more action at the plate and in the field. The
rookie league is an excellent way to continue teaching the fundamentals of the game and building player confidence as well as preparing the player for “kid pitch” at the next level.
This league is designed for 9 and 10 year olds. This is the level where “kid pitch” is introduced. Players at this age continue to develop and incorporate strategy into the game.
The most experienced level of Cal Ripken Baseball, recommended for 11 and 12 year old players. Cal Ripken Baseball is played under the Official Baseball Rules, but implements some special rules as necessary for the development and welfare of this young age group.
